Job Description

The Hardware Engineering Manager is responsible for hardware design and development in conjunction with our contract manufacturer; assisting with both hardware and software testing of Mediasite hardware; and identifying, reproducing, reporting, and resolving hardware-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Sonic Foundry's contract manufacturer to design, certify, and validate new and existing Embedded/IoT Systems
  • Research, identify, provide, and maintain cost effective capture solutions
  • Update and test Windows Embedded OS drivers and BIOS versions
  • Update and create batch scripts
  • Work with Operations and the contract manufacturer to process customer RMAs and identify potential hardware concerns
  • Verify the hardware build instructions and testing protocols to ensure customers receive stable and functional devices
  • Work with the Capture and QA teams to test the Mediasite Recorder software on dedicated Mediasite hardware systems
  • Setup Mediasite Recorder hardware for Sonic Foundry’s internal teams
  • Swap computer components and build internal test hardware for internal teams
  • Verify hardware device compatibility with the Mediasite Recorder software
  • Assists Marketing and Engineering with technical documentation activities
  • Communicate with third-party vendors to receive, test, and validate various hardware devices
  • Work with capture card vendor(s) to test capture devices and driver updates
  • Benchmark the Recorder hardware (memory, CPU, and drive performance) using detailed diagnostics tools to ensure product stability
  • Work with Customer Support to troubleshoot and diagnose escalated customer cases
  • Create and test Windows Embedded Operating System Images

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or related field
  • 5+ years Embedded/IoT Systems development and support
  • Knowledge of analog and digital audio, video, and computer interfaces
  • Experience creating and testing Windows Embedded OS Images
  • Experience with computer assembly, repair, and modification
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with software development teams to validate hardware capabilities
