Job Description

The Product Marketing Manager drives product positioning, messaging, and launch activities for the Sonic Foundry product portfolio to grow market share and achieve explosive growth. This role will be a foundational member of the marketing team and will be integral in the creation of messaging and positioning, competitive differentiation, defining go-to-market strategy, and shaping multi-channel campaigns to drive awareness and generate demand. 

Responsibilities

Product Marketing

  • Gather and leverage customer insights to help inform product strategy, in partnership with cross functional teams
  • Define customer personas, product positioning, competitive differentiation, key market messages, and value propositions in partnership with product and sales teams and informed by research
  • Create multi-channel marketing campaigns with compelling messaging to raise awareness and generate demand
  • Work closely with product and sales teams to build and manage go-to-market strategy for new product launches
  • Develop communication plans for scheduled releases and other product milestones
  • Support sales channels with product positioning and through the development of sales tools and collateral
  • Provide product marketing expertise to support company presence at trade shows, events, and channel activities
  • Monitor and manage product-related support and service offerings

Market Assessment

  • Solicit customer, prospect, and partner input (via user groups, site visits, tradeshows, surveys, win/loss analyses, etc.) to understand and define customer personas, pain points, and use scenarios 
  • Assess market trends and opportunities through market research
  • Conduct and maintain competitive intelligence relative to product positioning, market segmentation, channel mix, pricing, and service/support strategy to inform marketing/sales opportunities and to define value propositions

Customer Loyalty and Retention

  • Help grow Mediasite community and customer evangelists
  • Assist with creation of customer success stories promoted through case studies, webinars, and other channels
  • Serve as primary contact for key corporate partnerships and sponsorships, working closely with channel sales team to build and grow relationships and partner base

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of B2B product marketing/product management experience
  • Knowledgeable in technology and/or enterprise software
  • Proven experience collaborating with cross functional teams (sales, marketing, product, operations, finance) to develop cohesive strategy, marketing plans and messaging
  • Demonstrated ability to create customer-facing content and messaging that resonates
  • Solid customer relationship skills enabling development of products that meet market needs 
  • Experience developing and executing go-to-market plans 
  • Pricing strategy skills
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize, implement, and champion products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel (up to 15%)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline or equivalent professional experience required
