Job Description

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for providing product vision and leadership to create, launch, maintain and enhance the Video Operating System.   

Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert providing vision and leadership to product line
  • Work with business owner & product team to create and maintain strategic plans (Strat Sums) for assigned product lines to define winning value propositions and required resources
  • Work with Sonic Foundry customers directly, thru the Sonic Foundry community, via the Customer Council or other avenues to solicit and obtain input on product priorities and opportunities
  • Research, prepare, maintain, and evangelize a product roadmap that communicates sequencing and timing for short- and long-term releases
  • Maintain roadmap and align roadmap with business owner and other key stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain appropriate mechanisms (presentations, roadmap views, web pages, client meetings and briefings, etc.) to communicate product vision and plans to internal and external audiences
  • Work closely with go-to-market teams and other stakeholders to define high level product specifications (capability abstracts) and detailed specifications (use cases & actionable stories). 
  • Ensure continuous compliance and leadership with Sonic Foundry’s trust practices
  • Work closely with researchers & designers to validate and optimize product solutions pre & post engineering
  • Work closely with your Scrum team (engineering & QA) and supporting scrum teams to build and validate solutions within budget and on time
  • Ensure creation and execution of product launch and release plans with a drive towards continuous releases. Coordinate internal and external product launches working with Marketing, Sales, Support and other teams
  • Ensure expert product training and support for Sonic Foundry’s client-facing teams
  • Instrument and maintain product performance dashboard. Utilize data to inform product enhancement decisions and roadmap prioritization
  • Ensure timely identification, vetting and response of in-market problems (bugs) and potential enhancements
  • Work with product, engineering et al to design and implement a/b tests of new capabilities and user flows
  • Maintain accurate release calendar at all times
  • Maintain internal product site or equivalent for your product line(s)
  • Invest in continuous learning to ensure adoption of best practices
  • Assist product & engineering teams and other stakeholders in evolving product development tools & processes

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years, full life-cycle experience as commercial product manager or product owner for end-user software product
  • 2+ years agile experience (scrum preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining product roadmaps
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and vet product specifications
  • Proven software project management and collaboration skills
  • Prior experience launching a new commercial product strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with B2B video applications or similar ideal
  • Prior experience using AI services to end user benefit ideal
  • Familiarity with current and emerging video, AI, interactivity competitive landscapes
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional work experience
