Job Description

The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading an agile engineering team in architecting and building Public Cloud hosted web applications and mobile applications that enable content management and AI enabled editing and enhancement of video.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product and engineering leadership to build Scrum team
  • Identify and prioritize necessary skills sets and responsibilities
  • Grow the skills of new and existing team members
  • Subject matter expert providing technical vision and leadership to product line
  • Work with engineering leadership to determine how to build a new product
  • Work closely with your Scrum team (Product, Engineering and QA) and supporting Scrum teams to build and validate solutions within budget and on time
  • Develop custom software to integrate with existing systems
  • Architect cross platform solutions that are modular and loosely coupled with a focus on speed to market without accruing significant technical debt
  • Scale solutions taking advantage of public cloud services and hosting
  • Evaluate and determine appropriate technologies
  • Establish and adhere to a buy vs build framework for software component and technology decisions
  • Design and develop applications that are easily tested with automated tests
  • Prioritize application performance
  • Work with designers to implement modern and clear UX design
  • Work with product and engineering teams to design and implement a/b tests of new capabilities and user flows
  • Work with DevOps team to continuously integrate and continuously deploy web applications in a Public Cloud and mobile applications in app stores
  • Assist with care, support, and maintenance of cloud environment for test, staging and production
  • Performance tuning, improvement and implementation for high availability and real-time performance
  • Invest in continuous learning to ensure adoption of best practices
  • Assist product & engineering teams and other stakeholders in evolving product development tools & processes

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience leading a team
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting
  • Excellent programming abilities in an object-oriented language
  • Excellent programming abilities in JavaScript with popular web application frameworks and libraries
  • Experience with iOS, iPadOS and Android mobile app development
  • Experience with user experience design
  • Experience with front-end build systems
  • Experience with Public Cloud service providers
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum preferred)
  • Experience working with a source code control system
  • Familiarity with streaming media technology preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • History of working well in a team environment
  • Passion for writing great software and solving complex problems
